The elephant somehow seems as the more beautiful part of the union. But that's how I often see relationships between humans and animals 
I like how there's so many ways to see this picture - from a one soul-one body closeness (maybe a shaman of sorts becoming one with the elephant for a spiritual journey?) to enmity, an animal driven to attack by a shadow of human actions.
